Policy and budget decisions are made by the Board of Directors, which is comprised of nineteen (19) members appointed by our member municipalities. The number of representatives appointed are based on population as outlined in subsection 2(2) of the Conservation Authorities Act and ERCA’s Bylaws

Governance

The Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA) meetings are held on Thursdays in the Council Chambers of the Essex Civic Centre and begin at 6:00 p.m.

Minutes for each meeting are posted once they have been approved by the Board of Directors. Agendas are generally available one week prior to the scheduled meeting.  

Delegations to any Authority meeting will be considered, if requested in writing at least ten (10) days prior to the meeting, or if otherwise approved by the Authority Chair. Such written request must state the purpose of the delegation, and should be directed to admin@erca.org.

Delegations to any meeting of the Authority will be limited to one key spokesperson and will be allotted a maximum of five (5) minutes for their related presentation. The Chair has discretion to allow ten (10) minutes. The dates for scheduled meetings are as follows:

Financial Information

As the funding received from the Government of Ontario in 2023 ($573,707) did not exceed $1,000,000 and is less than 10 per cent of the Authority’s gross revenues for the year, the Authority is not considered a public body employer for the purposes of the Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996, in 2023.
