Support Conservation as a Sustainer!

Did you know that you can make a difference in helping to support continued conservation efforts in our region with a monthly gift?

Generous people like you are making a big difference in helping to:

  • Green our region and take climate action

  • Connect our region by trails

  • Inspire future generations through conservation education

  • Preserve our region’s heritage at the John R. Park Homestead

The changes to the Conservation Authorities Act have impacted the funding model for several program areas, including conservation education, museum operations at the John R. Park Homestead, tree planting and restoration, and other programs vital to ensuring our region remains the #PlaceforLife. This makes donations like yours more important than ever!

A small monthly gift in support of conservation can make a big impact over time to ensure these important programs can continue.

Make a Lasting Impact with a Gift in Your Will

You’ve walked quiet trails, watched sunsets over forests, and listened to the call of birds at dawn. You know the value of nature — and how precious it truly is.  By leaving a gift to conservation in your will, you ensure that future generations can experience the same wonder. It’s a powerful way to pass on your values and protect the beauty you’ve loved.

A legacy of forests. Of clean rivers. Of thriving wildlife. Of heritage conservation.  A legacy that lives on.

Consider a gift of conservation in your will — and help protect the natural world, forever.  In addition to ensuring the financial security of your family, you can also leave a lasting impact by making a final gift of conservation.  And, charitable giving through your estate can result in significant tax savings. The Essex Region Conservation Foundation always encourages you to check with your own financial planner to discuss your legacy gift.

The charitable bequest in your Will can provide a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your Estate, or a gift of the residue, which consists of whatever remains in your Estate after gifts to your loved ones and all expenses have been paid.  Here is some sample wording that could be used:

To give where the need is greatest

“I give the sum of [ $____ / ____ % / the residue] of my Estate to the Essex Region Conservation Foundation, charitable registration 118902162RR0001, for general charitable purposes in conformity with the objectives of the Essex Region Conservation Foundation."

To give with a specific purpose in mind:

“I give the sum of [ $____ / ____ % / the residue] of my Estate to the Essex Region Conservation Foundation, charitable registration 118902162RR0001, for general charitable purposes in conformity with the objectives of the Essex Region Conservation Foundation, having regard for my interest in ."

We always recommend that you speak to your lawyer and/or financial planner to determine if a gift in your Will is right for you.  That said, here is some sample wording that could be used:

The beautiful Cypher Systems Group Greenway connects Essex to Amherstburg and intersects with the existing Chrysler Canada Greenway, allowing our entire community to be connected by trails. But, we need your help to create parking locations for trail users to access the Cypher Systems Group Greenway.

A community entrance is planned for Thomas St in Amherstburg that is large enough to accommodate horse trailers. The cost to build this new entrance is estimated to be $110,000, and your donation can help get us one step closer to creating this needed community entrance.
