Watershed – Conditions Statements-Flood Outlook
The Essex Region Conservation Authority advises that the Flood Watch previously issued has been downgraded to a Watershed Conditions Statement. Major watercourses still have elevated water levels from the previous storms earlier in the week, while smaller tributaries have lowered in the upstream areas. The rainfall that was forecasted for Friday night did not hit the region, which allowed the watershed to continue draining without any additional runoff. Conditions are still very wet and saturated. Without the rain falling last night and little to no rain in the forecast over the next several days, the rivers will continue to lower back to normal levels.
People are still encouraged to take extra caution near watercourses with elevated water levels as the combination of slippery banks and fast-moving water can be dangerous. Standing water can also present its own unseen hazards. Children, pets, and livestock should be kept away from flowing or standing water. People are encouraged to monitor local forecasts.
