Watershed – Flood Warning

The Essex Region Conservation Authority advises that a FLOOD WARNING is in effect with flooding occurring in the Town of Essex. The Town of Essex so far has been the most severely impacted by the recent rainfall. Rain gauges at the southern end of the region have recorded over 60mm of rainfall. The areas currently affected by flooding include County Road 50 in the Town of Essex, between County Road 41 and Wright Road. Areas between these streets have significant water over the roadways including many roads heading south towards Lake Erie.

Road closure:

County Road 50 between County Road 41 and Wright Road.

The previously issued Flood Watch remains in effect for all other areas not currently experiencing flooding and will expire at the same time as the Flood Warning. This Flood Warning will remain in effect until 10:00 AM September 25, 2025.

People are encouraged to take extra caution and avoid areas where flooding is occurring as well as rivers, streams, and shoreline areas during significant rainfall and wind events. The combination of slippery banks and fast-moving water can be dangerous. Standing water can also present its own unseen hazards. Children, pets, and livestock should be kept away from flowing or standing water.

Essex Region Conservation Authority will continue to monitor forecasts. The advisory will be modified as required.
