To comply with Section 21.1 of the Conservation Authorities Act and Section 12 of Ontario Regulation 686/21 Mandatory Programs and Services, ERCA is required to complete a Watershed-Based Resource Management Strategy (referred to as a “Watershed Strategy), by December 31, 2024.
This Watershed Strategy will ultimately set some guiding principles and objectives for the Authority, its Mandatory Program and Services (Category 1 Services), Municipal Services (Category 2 Services), and Other Programs and Services (Category 3 Services). The strategy will also assist ERCA with enhancing the delivery of its Mandatory Programs and Services by assessing any challenges, identifying risks that impact service delivery, and providing mitigative measures to ensure such challenges and risks are adequately addressed. Finally, this strategy will help identify desirable future programs, services, and actions that will help ERCA meet the objectives and long-term goals required for watershed health.
The DRAFT Watershed Strategy has now been completed and is available for review. Any stakeholder group or member of the public who wishes to provide feedback may do so via email at watershedstrategy@erca.org.
