Phragmites Control Planned at Ruscom Shores Conservation Area
Lakeshore - The Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA), in collaboration with the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) will be treating Ruscom Shores Conservation Area to control Phragmites on Tuesday October 6th, 2026. This work is part of a coordinated effort to manage and restore this ecologically significant wetland.
To ensure operations can run smoothly we are closing the site for the day to allow contractors to operate a variety of drones and specialized herbicide vehicles designed to work in wetlands.
The site will be opened again once the control work has been completed. We appreciate the public’s understanding during this closure as we work towards improving the health of this wetland.
