Windsor – The Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA) is inviting guests from across the region to the ENWIN Earth Day Tree Planting Celebration in the City of Windsor on Sunday, April 26 from 10am - 12noon.
“ERCA has hosted an annual tree planting in the City of Windsor since 1999,” said Danielle Breault Stuebing, ERCA’s Director of Communications. “Over the past 27 years, nearly forty-thousand trees have been planted in the City of Windsor as a result of this event. We are so grateful to ENWIN, which has supported this event for many years and has now made a three-year commitment as its title sponsor to ensure the Windsor-Essex community can continue to plant trees for years to come. We are also thankful to the thousands and thousands of people who have joined us to plant these trees. Know that you have made a difference!”
“ENWIN is proud to serve as the title sponsor of the Essex Region Conservation Authority’s Earth Day Tree Planting event,” said Garry Rossi, President and CEO of ENWIN Utilities Ltd. “Supporting community initiatives like this reflects our commitment to stewardship, trust, and purposeful community engagement. We thank ERCA for its leadership in advancing environmental initiatives in our region and for welcoming our team to participate in this meaningful event.”
The event will take place along the Ganatchio Trail near Wyandotte and Florence. Opening ceremonies will begin at 10am, with the planting of more than 2100 trees to follow. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own shovel, if possible. There will be a limited supply of tree planting tools available to share. Parking is available at Riverside Kiwanis Park/Pump Track parking lot, McHugh Park parking lot and various public parking lots along Riverside Drive east. Use the Ganatchio Trail system to arrive at the Earth Day site.
Groups of 10 or more are encouraged to sign up as a Green Team to receive a certificate of participation. Green Teams can sign up until April 19 at https://essexregionconservation.ca/earthday .
