About the event
This is the morning shift registration page for the Viking Canada's 100th Anniversary Tree Planting event. There are two planting shifts available - one in the morning, and one in the afternoon. Please view the RSVP page for details. Parking is available at 2080 Ferriss Rd, Harrow, across from the planting location along the Chrysler Canada Greenway. Your team leader is Laura Neufeld. If you have any questions about the tree planting please contact Laura Neufeld at lneufeld@erca.org.
What to Expect and Bring
Shovels will be provided but you may wish to bring your own. Gloves are a great idea to protect your hands. It may be helpful to bring a towel, an extra pair of socks to change into after planting and some clean shoes for the car ride home.
Please – pack out what you pack in – please refrain from leaving litter behind!
What can I wear to the event?
Dress for the weather. May can bring a wide range of wet to dry weather conditions, and this event takes place rain or shine. In case of extreme weather (ie – unsafe) you will be notified by email Sunday morning if the event is postponed. We recommend dressing in layers, wear a hat for sun protection, bring extra socks, a towel, etc. Wear sturdy footwear such as hiking boots that are comfortable.
Getting to the Site
The event is taking place along the Chrysler Canada Greenway just off Ferriss Rd in Harrow. Parking is available at 2080 Ferriss Rd and you may use the Greenway Trail system to arrive at the planting site.
Tree Planting
We are so grateful for the generous donation from Viking Pumps Canada. This generous sponsorship will allow you to plant 100 large native trees along our trail systems. To ensure the maximum survival rate for these planted trees, we encourage you to focus on quality vs. quantity. For those who have not planted a tree before or for those who wish to have a refresher on proper tree planting techniques, please take a moment to watch these short videos!
· Containerized Tree Planting Demonstration
Expertly trained How-To-Crew members will be on site to help with any quality control questions about how to plant trees to ensure long term growth and survival.
