Visiting the tapped maple trees to check for sap running and learn more about sap collection, the life cycle and anatomy of a maple tree, and the seasonality of maple production Try brace and bit drills and carrying sap with a yoke and pails, Early Settler tools involved in maple making Gather around the Evaporation Station to celebrate maple making, discuss states of matter, and to learn about the traditions and celebrations around processing sap into syrup Gather in the house kitchen to discover the "finishing stages" of maple making, Celebrate Maple Season with traditional wooden toys, and the Maple Song and Maple Season Story for K-2 students Make connections between maple making and our Canadian cultural identity Indigenous Innovation in maple making and Francophone cultural elements can be emphasized. Students and chaperones will each get to enjoy a piece of pure maple sugar (a sweet, all-natural treat) as part of the experience.
