Service Description
Visit the historic farm and outbuildings of the Park Family with your costumed guide Your students will get to try their hands at the old-fashioned Early Settler wooden toys and games (indoor and outdoor) Please note that the historic house is closed for significant restoration work; we will send you a link, so you and your class can enjoy a virtual house tour as a pre or post-visit activity Please choose two hands-on activities from the following list for your students to participate in: Cooking over the fire Butter Making Woodworking Blacksmithing (please note – this option depends upon the blacksmith being available on your selected date) Textile Weaving (students each make a bookmark or bracelet to take home) Laundry Day – help do laundry the old fashioned way Curriculum Early Years - Grade 1 – Roles and Responsibilities, The Local Community, Daily and Seasonal Changes Grade 2 - Changing Family and Community Traditions Grade 3 – Communities in Canada 1780-1850, Land Use and the Environment Grade 4 – Early Societies (Technology), Political and Physical Regions of Canada Grade 6 – Communities in Canada, Past and Present Grade 7 – New France and British North America, 1713-1800 1800-1850: Conflict and Challenges Natural Resources Around the World: Use and Sustainability Grade 8 – Creating Canada 1850-1890 Global Settlement: Patterns and Sustainability
